I was thrilled when the PR team from Cedar Point recently invited me to head over to one of their resorts for an evening of fun for the family! Even though I had been to Cedar Point dozens of times, I've actually never stayed at one of their hotels or resorts! There are four resort hotels - Sandcastle Suites, Hotel Breakers, Breakers Express, and finally Castaway Bay which includes a year-round indoor water park. There are also two marinas if you (or a friend) have a boat you'd like to sail up and stay in. Or if you are the roughing it type you can stay at the luxury RV campground with cottages and cabins (so not really roughing it lol).
Needless to say, we jumped on the chance to visit Castaway Bay for the evening. With a record breaking month of snowfall, we could really use some time away! The kids have been going stir crazy at home and work has been overwhelming for both Kevin and myself especially while planning a move in the next few months! As I said before Castaway Bay has a year-round indoor water park as well as tons of other things to keep you busy!
"The Caribbean meets Sandusky at this resort destination for vacationers. With its tropical theme, guests at Cedar Point’s Castaway Bay feel like they have just landed on an island paradise upon entering this lush indoor waterpark resort. Castaway Bay features 237 hotel rooms and suites including family-oriented units, a 38,000-square-foot indoor waterpark loaded with water activities for all ages, fitness center, 6,000-square-foot state-of-the-art arcade, a craft and child activity center, three restaurants, retail shops, adjacent marina and space for meetings, group events and birthday parties."
Now, the first thing I am going to say is be prepared when you visit this resort and more so when you visit during the winter months! Just because they say it is a perfect 82 degrees inside the waterpark does not mean it is 82 in the hallways or even in your room. Also to be perfectly honest it made the water feel even colder knowing all the snow was right outside! Don't let this stop you though, just come prepared with towels or swim cover-up outfits for your kids to wear back to the room and pump up the heat in your room when you first arrive!
While we were there, of course the boys suckered us into spending money in the arcade. This has to be one of the larger arcades I've seen inside a hotel with tons of different games to play and of course ways to earn tickets and prizes! I was however extremely disappointed in the customer service of the employees there though. Not only were several games out of order AND not labeled this way so we had to continuously go get refunds for our coins BUT the staff was either chatting away off to the side unable to be bothered by anyone waiting patiently at the counter. They seemed very unhappy being there or with helping anyone!
While we were there we had the opportunity to do tons of crafts with the boys including decorating our own towels, bookmarks, and picture frames. We also made our own ice cream sundaes and danced the night away with Lucy from the Peanuts gang! We got to meet and have our picture taken with Snoopy too! There are four restaurants onsite including the well known TGI Friday's if you feel like dining out or you can stay cozied up in your room with room service! Also don't forget to check the calendar of events so you can plan for a packed stay while there!

Recommendation: I have to say for the cost and everything you get out of this package it is a good deal! However I don't know that I could say I see myself visiting there again. This is a very costly trip even for all you get and I wasn't totally impressed by the rooms or front desk and game room staff.
