During the summer we spend a lot of time at the pool or local beaches and also actively play on an adults softball league. Its really important to have the whole families eyes properly protected. A lot of people don't realize that the cheap sunglasses which are usually sold in novelty stores, contain no actual protection. They are also made out of crappy materials so they fall apart easily. Maui Jim is anything but poor quality! "In 2004, PolarizedPlus®2 technology revolutionized the sunglass market - patented, color-enhancing treatments in the form of rare earth elements were added to our lenses to really pop the colors your eye takes in."
The last two pairs of Maui Jim Sunglasses we got about six months ago have lasted not only through the Summer but through the two boys who love to play with them! Kevin was the lucky dog who received the last two pairs but thankfully, they agreed to send me over two more totally awesome pairs to review for the New Year - Nalani and Maile styles. These ones were definitely for me this time!
The Nalani style is listed as perfect for "protecting against wind and blowing debris by the pool or topside". Designed with a feminine, modern shape these sunglasses are the ultimate sexy and can fit a variety of face shapes. I love the MauiGradient Lense featured with this style which means the lenses are darker at the top and get lighter towards the bottom! These even come in four color combinations - Tokyo Tortoise / HCL Bronze, Gloss Black / Neutral Grey, Dark Tortoise / Maui Rose, and Tortoise with White & Blue / HCL Bronze. These
The Maile style is also a feminine, modern shape with five color combinations to choose from - Dark Tortoise / HCL Bronze, Black with Crystal / Maui Rose, Gloss Black / Neutral Grey, Tokyo Tortoise / Neutral Grey, and Tortoise & Ivory Demi / HCL Bronze. These also feature the MauiGradient Lense as well. Although this pair is very similar to the other, these seem to have a thinner frame. Both style sunglasses are even treated so they are saltwater safe.
I love their philosophy as it truly shows the Hawaiian spirit. "Our “ohana” (Hawaiian for family) is passionate about creating the best sunglasses on the planet. Because at the end of the day, we want to see the world at its best - and we know that you do, too, no matter where you live. "
Cost/Available to Purchase: $259 Maile
Recommendation: I think these are all great and really awesome quality too! I think that if you are one of those people who buys endless pairs of sunglasses and they continuously break on you, then this is an investment to make. I don't really see myself paying this much for a pair no matter how great they are only because I am so cheap!
